    HGH Fragment 176-191

    6 min read · Mar 2026

    Background

HGH Fragment 176-191 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal 16-amino-acid segment of human growth hormone (residues 176-191), isolated and characterised for its lipolytic activity that appears to be structurally separable from the growth-promoting activity of full-length hGH.

    Mechanism

Animal data show stimulation of lipolysis (mobilisation of stored triglyceride from adipocytes) and inhibition of lipogenesis (new fat deposition) without IGF-1 elevation, without effects on glucose homeostasis or insulin sensitivity, and without growth-promoting activity at studied doses.

    What is proven

Selective lipolytic activity in rodent adipose tissue and cultured adipocytes is replicated across multiple studies.

    What is NOT proven

No completed Phase 2 or Phase 3 human obesity trials. The related, modified compound AOD-9604 (which derives from this fragment) failed Phase 2b human obesity trials — that result tempers expectations for the unmodified fragment.

    Open research questions

Whether the rodent lipolysis effect translates to humans at any practical dose; bioavailability and stability in human plasma.
